1. POLICY STATEMENT

1.1. BANJAARA is committed to the highest standards of transparency, probity, integrity and accountability. This policy sets out BANJAARA’s commitment and standard for ensuring ethically responsible purchasing.

2. OUR PROCUREMENT COMMITMENTS

2.1. BANJAARA commits to acting with integrity and fairness in all aspects of its professional activity. Listed below are BANJAARA’s key procurement commitments, including examples of how we demonstrate these pledges:

2.1.1.Be aware - We understand the role, relationship, and potential impact of procurement on ethical standards. This includes awareness of: the potential impact of procurement activity on the environment; the treatment of the workforce involved; the impact of terminating contracts early, unsustainable cost negotiations, withholding payments, and requesting unreasonable fulfilment lead-times. As such we will always act in a considered manner in order to mitigate the potential outcomes from the above actions. We also ensure all relevant laws and regulations are followed and demand the same from our suppliers.

2.1.2.Be open, fair and honest - We always aim to be open, impartial, fair and honest in all our dealings. We realise this in several ways, for example we ensure our requirements are always clearly defined and provided in sufficient time, and we manage relationships with suppliers with integrity. Through all business, we strive to conduct ourselves in a professional manner as to maintain trust and confidence in the integrity of all purchasing processes.

2.1.3.Be accountable - We commit to act impartially, responsibly, and objectively in all purchasing activities.

2.1.4.Be active in the prevention of ethical breaches - We strive to develop relationships with suppliers and contractors that ensure ethical standards are continually met. To support this, we require all suppliers to adhere to our supplier Code of Conduct. We also take annual routine visits to inspect and assess our supplier’s operations in person.

2.2. Sustainable Procurement – Sustainability underpins the entire ethos of BANJAARA’s production process. However, BANJAARA further commits to proactively understand and make strong efforts to minimise the negative impact of our supply chain on the environment. We expect our suppliers to be aware of, and support BANJAARA in these efforts, and this expectation is reinforced within our Supplier Code of Conduct. One such example of applying sustainability in our down-stream supply chain is ensuring our suppliers use non-plastic, biodegradable packaging on the individual garments for shipments.

3. OUR PROCUREMENT STANDARDS

3.1. We hold ourselves and our suppliers to the following minimum standards. Whilst these are the minimum standards required by BANJAARA, we commit to working and developing polices and safeguards to build upon these minimums and encourage our suppliers to do the same:

3.1.1.Respectful Treatment - Everyone has the right to respectful treatment. We will not tolerate discrimination, harassment or victimisation in the workplace, and we expect our suppliers to uphold the same commitment, including to their own employees and supply chains.

3.1.2.Human Rights and Employment Law - We and our suppliers must comply with all applicable human rights and employment laws in the jurisdictions in which we work and have robust means of ensuring that the subcontractors e.g. block printers, in the supply chain also comply. This includes complying with the provisions of the Modern Slavery Act 2015.

3.1.3.Child Labour - BANJAARA will not tolerate the use of child labour. Suppliers must ensure that all goods and services are produced and delivered by organisations that subscribe to the Rights of the Child, where children are protected from performing any work that is likely to be hazardous or to interfere with the child's education, or to be harmful to the child's health and physical, mental, spiritual, moral and social development.

3.1.4.Conflicts of Interest - We commit to mitigate appropriately against any real or perceived conflict of interest and require the same of our suppliers. A supplier with a position of influence gained through a contract should not use that position to unfairly disadvantage any other supplier or reduce the potential for future competition.

3.1.5.Ethical Behaviour - We expect the highest standards of business ethics from ourselves and our suppliers. We expect suppliers to be explicit about the standards they demand of executives, employees, partners and subcontractors and to have the governance and audit processes to monitor and enforce these standards.

3.1.6.Counter Fraud and Corruption - We have zero tolerance of any form of corrupt practices including extortion and fraud and we expect suppliers to be vigilant and proactively look for fraud, and the risk of fraud, in their business. We demand that suppliers adhere to anticorruption laws and anti-money laundering regulations. We expect suppliers to have robust processes to ensure that the subcontractors in their supply chain also comply with these laws. Suppliers should immediately notify BANJAARA where fraudulent practice is suspected or uncovered.
